    Reports to: General Counsel

     

    Summary:  Reporting to VP & General Counsel, this unique entry-level position will provide legal service and consultation to various business units for the sales & marketing, digital distribution of video games on traditional console, PC and mobile platforms as well as on emerging game platforms, game-as-a-service business models, and merchandise licensing and as well as to anti-piracy enforcement, IP litigation and other forms of dispute resolution, GDPR and other privacy law, information security and other regulatory compliance matters. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Major Duties and Responsibilities

     

    An exciting opportunity to develop strong legal skills and deep knowledge and expertise in a broad spectrum of the video game business—from the digital distribution (i.e., software license and distribution) through traditional and emerging platforms, game-as-a-service models, marketing through traditional and social media channels, merchandise licensing to handling anti-piracy enforcement, IP litigation and other forms of dispute resolutions, GDPR and other privacy law, information security and other regulatory compliance. Principal duties include assisting the General Counsel in structuring, drafting, reviewing, & negotiating a spectrum of commercial and licensing agreements in addition to providing legal advice on a wide range of legal areas including copyright and trademark property protection and enforcement, privacy law, advertising as well as ESRB and other regulatory compliance.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Qualifications

     

    • Boundless curiosity with a “growth mindset”
    • Intrinsic motivation in developing legal skills in intellectual property laws, contract drafting and negotiation
    • Strong critical writing skills and analytical thinking
    • Strong desire to pursue a career path outside of the traditional law firm-centric career
    • Stellar academic credentials: JD degree with a proven academic record
    • California Bar membership
    • 2-3 years of experience in IP and critical contract drafting 

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

     

    • Strong writing skills with basic knowledge of contract drafting and intellectual property law
    • Ability to quickly adapt and learn in fluid environments
    • Keen interest in video game industry
    • Strong interpersonal skills including maturity, integrity, creativity and a high energy level
    • Common sense
    • A good sense of humor
